Thymol is a naturally occurring compound found in many plant species including Thyme from which it gets its name. Thymol is a powerful anti-microbial compound showing effectiveness against a broad spectrum of pathogens including yeasts and fungi and even antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Because of these properties it also used in bee-keeping and even book restoration as a preventative and treatment for potentially damaging fungi.
